THE BRONX - A bridal procession down the Grand Concourse took an annual vow to stand up against domestic violence.
Women dress in bridal gowns each year, along with supportive men donning tuxedos, in memory of Gladys Ricart, who was killed by a former abusive boyfriend on her wedding day in 1999.
More than 100 participants say the event aims to turn tragedy into triumph by spreading awareness and making it known that any type of domestic abuse is unacceptable.
Other victims of domestic violence are also remembered during the parade of white, and many marchers have been victims too.
