THE BRONX - The NYPD has released its annual crime statistics for New York City in 2013 and the Bronx saw an overall decline.

Every year the police department releases the data it collects from each precinct in the city, and murders, rapes, robberies and felony assaults are all down over the past 12 months.

Bronx murder rates sunk a startling 27.4 percent last year, while rapes dropped 9 percent and robberies declined by nearly 6 percent. However, the borough did see an increase of nearly 8 percent for the number of reported grand larcenies.

Coming in with the lowest crime rates in the entire borough is the 50th Precinct in Riverdale, followed by the 45th Precinct in Throggs Neck. The 42nd and 52nd precincts had the highest murder rates, each seeing 12 homicides last year, and the 43rd Precinct had the highest number of robberies with nearly 600.
