Pranks are frowned upon in many workplaces, but you may get away with some laughs if conducted properly.

THE BRONX - It's April Fools' Day, and if you have some jokes up your sleeve, you may want to think twice before pulling it off at the office.

AOL Jobs reports that according to a national survey by the recruitment firm The Creative Group, April Fools' jokes are frowned upon in many workplaces. It found that 68 percent of advertising and marketing executives think pranks are completely inappropriate.

However, if your workplace is up for some laughs, there are some tips to follow to make sure you don't go too far. For example, don’t make the prank something that will affect your office too negatively or cause permanent damage. Remember that people take work seriously.

Jokesters should also make sure that they don’t do anything offensive by making fun of race, religion or sexual orientation. Always think about your employer's conduct standards, and don’t be a bully by singling someone out.
