NEW YORK - (AP) - An audit by New York City's comptroller hasfound wait times for mammograms were "dangerously" long at ninepublic hospitals during the 2009 fiscal year.

Comptroller John Liu said long waits put women in jeopardy andviolated the city's policies recommending waits of no more than twoweeks for routine screening.

The city's Health and Hospitals Corp. called the findingsoutdated. Ana Marengo, a spokeswoman for the municipal hospitalsystem, said the audit failed to look at the last two years whensignificant improvements were made.
