Authorities ID Gilgo Beach body as Bronx woman

THE BRONX - Police have identified one of the four women found near Gilgo Beach as a 24-year-old Bronx woman.

Officials say Melissa Barthelemy disappeared from her Soundview home in July 2009. Police say Barthelemy and the other three victims worked as prostitutes or escorts who advertised online.

Neighbors who knew Barthelemy say she mostly kept to herself. They say they are shocked over the news.

Police say they are still investigating the deaths and are considering the possibility of a serial killer.
