THE BRONX - The Bronx man accused of pointing a laser into the cockpits of three airplanes and an NYPD helicopter is being held on $50,000 bail.

Frank Egan professed his innocence after being arrested Tuesday. The 36-year-old is charged with 20 counts, including reckless endangerment.

Authorities say three of the affected pilots reported pain or blindness after being struck in the eyes with the laser. Air traffic control also had to reroute flights out of the path of the beam.

According to police, a laser was found on top of a refrigerator inside Egan's home on Coddington Avenue.

News 12 went to Egan's home in Tremont to speak to his family, but they did not want to open the door. Neighbors say they have seen a laser pointed at the street before and that it came from Egan's apartment.

Egan works as a florist in New Rochelle. Those who know him are shocked.

News 12 reached out to Egan's lawyer, who declined to comment on the case. Egan is due back in court on Friday.
