THE BRONX - Bronx native and Baltimore Ravens defensive end Chris Canty visited P.S. 43 as part of his foundation's initiative called "Reading Buddies."

Canty brought books for more than 400 students in an attempt to help support literacy education and to help prepare students for standardized tests.

Canty spoke to students ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade, saying that he's happy to give back to the community.

Volunteers will visit the school once a month to read with the children. The program will also provide scholarships to Canty's football camp, expected to take place this summer.
