THE BRONX - Bashid McLean pleaded not guilty today to second-degree murder in the death of his mother.

The 23-year-old is accused of killing and dismembering his mother, Tanya Bird. Authorities say he and accomplice William Harris cut up the 45-year-old and threw out her body in separate trash bags along Melrose Street.

McLean was supposed to be in court earlier this week but refused to show up. His attorney claims McLean suffers from multiple personality disorder.

McLean's next court appearance is Aug. 16.
