Bay Plaza expanding into new shopping center

THE BRONX - Bronx shoppers, get ready! Bay Plaza is expanding into a new 160,000-square foot mall.

Developers say the Co-op City shopping center will be located behind JC Penny's and will be anchored by Macy's. Prestige Properties is also in the process of renting to other big-named retailers.

Officials say the mall is expected to bring some 1,700 permanent jobs to the borough.

Construction is slated to begin this spring and be completed in 2014.
