THE BRONX - A new Netflix series will not only be filmed in the Bronx, but it will also tell the story of the Bronx during the 1970s.

"The Get Down” was announced at the Ghetto Film School in Port Morris, which is teaming up with filmmaker Baz Luhrmann, the director behind films such as the Great Gatsby and Romeo and Juliet.

Luhrmann says he’s now casting young Bronx talent to be a part of the show. Latino and African-American men and women between 18 and 25 years old are encouraged to submit a video of themselves.

Filming on the "The Get Down" is scheduled to start May 21, and it's expected to be released in August 2016.
