THE BRONX - A new taxi service could be coming to the Bay Plaza Mall in Co-op City.
Best Deal Car Services has applied for a license with the Taxi and Limousine Commission to operate a 24-hour taxi stand out of the plaza.
Owner Albert Williams says he hopes that being part of the TLC will help reduce unlicensed cabbies from picking up street fares, and further encourage shoppers to only accept rides from legitimate drivers.

Some shoppers like not having to wait for a ride, but passengers are taking huge risks when they do that.
Under the TLC, only yellow cabs and green-colored all-borough taxis are allowed to pick up passengers on the street. Livery cabs must go through their dispatch to get passengers.
Once approved, Williams hopes to add an additional 200 cars to the Co-op City area.
