THE BRONX - The borough’s Community Board 4 is recognizing some of New York City’s finest and bravest for their service in the Bronx.

Four members of the NYPD and three from the FDNY were presented with outstanding service awards at Yankee Stadium Thursday.

Two firefighters were honored for putting their own lives on the line and running into a burning apartment building to save others. The police officers were thanked for their efforts to reduce crime, particularly car break-ins and a gang operating in the 44th Precinct.

Community Board 4 is the only community board with a service award. It says it will continue to hold the ceremony every year to thank the people who are dedicated to serving the community.
