THE BRONX - A step street mural has been unveiled outside the Bronx Museum of Art on East 165th Street as part of the Department of Transportation’s Urban Art Program.

The DOT is teaming up with artists to create some public art installations in areas throughout the city.

The step street mural, created by artist Cara Lynch, took five days to complete and is titled "What We Came For."

Lynch had help from students at Samuel Gompers High School in Mott Haven. The piece is inspired by the art deco of the Grand Concourse, and the textiles and patterns from the historic homes in the borough.

The mural will be in place for about a year and a half.
