THE BRONX - The woman behind a Bronx food pantry is receiving high honors for her dedication to helping others.
Maria Estrada, founder of Every Day is a Miracle on East 143rd Street, is being recognized as an outstanding individual who helps people in the South Bronx put food on their tables each week.
Estrada accepted her award in the form of a plate during an annual gala held by the Food Bank For New York City. The "Can Do" award has been bestowed upon the likes of celebrity chef Mario Batali and Jon Bon Jovi.
Every Day is a Miracle serves not only food to dozens of people every Friday starting at 10:30 a.m., but it also provides resources to help them get back on their feet. The organization provides for nearly 4,000 Bronx residents each month.
