THE BRONX - A local outreach program that's been helping women get an education for more than a decade is now receiving national recognition.

Grace Outreach in Mott Haven was presented with $100,000 for the Murdoch Community Hero Award. The non-profit has been providing a practically free education since 1994 to adult women who otherwise wouldn't be able to get their GED.

Georgita Jones is a soon-to-be graduate who says that at nearly 43 years old, the program changed her life.

New applicants are accepted year-round. You just have to be a woman, at least 18 years old and pay a one-time
$50 fee.
