Best of the Bronx: Il Forno bakery wins award for donating bread each week to City Harvest

THE BRONX - A bakery that supplies bread to restaurants and stores as far away as Connecticut is giving back to the Bronx community.

The Il Forno bakery in Hunts Point makes thousands of loaves of bread every day, supplying some of New York City's finest restaurants. The bakery also donates bread to those in need.

The bakery was honored by Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the city this week with a "Neighborhood Achievement Award" for donating 500 pounds of bread each week to City Harvest.
