THE BRONX - Celebrations are in order for a high school student from the Bronx who has been accepted to nearly every school she applied to.

Baaba Abaka-Yankson, a senior at the St. Raymond Academy for Girls, says she applied to 18 colleges and universities and has been accepted to almost all of them.

The colleges she has been accepted to include Wesleyan, Columbia, Cornell, Brown, Dartmouth, NYU and Barnard College.

The straight-A student says she has worked extremely hard since coming to the Bronx from Ghana three years ago. She is one of the hundreds of students who received a New York Times scholarship for $7,000 annually.

"She's not just a gifted student; she's a very special young woman," says Ruth Tully, Abaka-Yankson's guidance counselor.

Although she has not yet made up her mind, Abaka-Yankson says Columbia University has always been her dream school.
