Best of the Bronx: Students compete at Scifest at Lehman College

Students from 15 high schools around the borough presented their research projects to a panel of judges. (2/26/14)

THE BRONX - Bronx students showed off their science skills today at the Bronx Scifest at Lehman College.

Students from 15 high schools around the borough presented their research projects to a panel of judges.

The projects featured everything from cancer research to decomposition of organic matter.

Lehman College provides each team with a mentor who guides them throughout their experiments. Officials say the goal is to expose the students to the research process and inspire them to pursue science in college.

The student who wins first place will receive a full scholarship to Lehman College. Second and third place winners will receive a cash prize.
