Big changes coming to Webster Avenue as part of zoning revitalization

So far the blueprint includes a new charter school, affordable housing buildings and a new gym. (4/3/14)

THE BRONX - Business could soon be booming in the Bronx now that a Norwood road is on its way to becoming a main street.

The revitalization will take place along Webster Avenue between Fordham and Gun Hill roads, transforming the area into a vibrant mix of residential, commercial and community space.

The New York City Economic Development Corporation and the Department of City Planning announced the project about a year ago, and so far, the blueprint includes a new charter school, affordable housing buildings and a new gym.

Crunch Fitness already opened in early March, making it the first location of the high-end fitness facility in all of the the Bronx. Residents say they hope the new gym is the first stop on a long road to a brand new Webster Avenue.
