Bloomberg surveys tri-state brush fire damage

THE BRONX - Mayor Michael Bloomberg surveyed the damage caused by brush fires plaguing the tri-state area.

Fire Commissioner Sal Cassano joined the mayor Tuesday afternoon in Staten Island where flames took over the former Fresh Kills landfill on Monday, injuring three firefighters. Many Brooklyn residents complained that they could smell wood burning from the fire.

More than 1,000 acres and several homes have also been destroyed by wildfires on eastern Long Island.
