THE BRONX - Mayor Michael Bloomberg is expanding a city truancy campaign to keep students from cutting classes.

Bloomberg says the initiative paired students with mentors and that after a trial run, schools saw improvements.

City officials say they'll be adding specialized mentors for kids coming out of juvenile detention centers or from out-of-school suspension. It will also expand to an additional 50 schools across the city.
