BELMONT - Bodega owners throughout the Bronx are taking a stand against the selling of synthetic marijuana, also known as K2.
The effort to stop the sale of synthetic marijuana is part of an initiative called "Operation K.O. K2." The initiative is led by state Sen. Jeff Klein, Councilmember Ritchie Torres and leaders of the Bodega Association of the United States.
Roman Murphy, president of the Bodega Association of the United States, says stores found selling K2 should just be closed down.

More than 1,700 bodega owners have signed the pledge and have placed signs in their storefronts.
The announcement of the initiative comes after a major drug bust in the Bronx last week.
City and state officials say they will not rest until every single bodega in the city stops selling synthetic marijuana.
