THE BRONX - Customers at the La Familia bodega on East Tremont Avenue were given a lesson today on healthier eating choices that can be made from corner-store ingredients.

A cooking demo was presented at the bodega by chef Michelle Domenech, using ingredients found inside as part of the Healthy Bodegas initiative. The initiative is a collaboration between City Harvest and the New York City Department of Health.

Bodegas that implement measures to carry nutritious foods and ingredients are granted ?star bodega? status.
