THE BRONX - A man's body was discovered Tuesday morning after firefighters extinguished a car fire in an Allerton alleyway.

Authorities found the burning car in an alleyway between Cruger and Holland Avenues at around 6 a.m.

News 12 spoke with family members who say the body found in the car was 40-year-old Wayne Thomas. Police have not yet confirmed the victim’s identity.  

According to police sources, the vehicle did not have license plates and the man inside was in the back seat. They are calling the incident a homicide.

People who live along the alleyway say they woke up to smoke and the sound of helicopters circling the area.

No arrests have been made.
