THE BRONX - Body parts were discovered stuffed in bags and scattered along several streets in Melrose early this morning.

According to investigators, the victim is an unidentified African-American woman believed to be in her 30s. They say a leg was initially discovered in a suitcase at around 4:30 a.m. on Eagle Avenue and East 156th Street, which is across the street from P.S. 157 Grove Hill Elementary School.

Officials say the other leg and the victim's head were found on 156th Street, near Cauldwell Avenue. The torso was recovered on Cauldwell Avenue, between 156th and 158th streets.

A source close to the investigation says that police are looking into the possibility that the crime started as a domestic dispute.

Detectives on the scene have been joined by the medical examiner and a canine cadaver unit.
