Bogus car inspections high in the Bronx

THE BRONX - Twenty-seven inspection facilities in the Bronx handed out fake inspection stickers, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation.

The facilities handed out more than 2,000 phony inspection stickers. They were given to many vehicles that were never tested for emissions, the DEC said.

Drivers should make sure the inspection costs only $37 regardless of the outcome. Additionally, each inspection should take 45 minutes and be conducted by a certified facility.
