THE BRONX - A boiler company that’s been serving the Bronx for decades is still going strong.
Al Eastmond & Sons began fixing boilers door-to-door using just one wagon.
The company grew from repairing boilers to making them. It opened up a facility in the Bronx in 1974 and owner Arlington Leon Eastmond Jr. says he plans on staying in the borough.
"I want to build the Bronx," he says. "That's why I've never sold, I've never rented the property. My mind, my love, my everything is building the Bronx." Eastmond proudly says his firm is the oldest black-owned company in the borough.
Al Eastmond & Sons tanks and boilers can currently be seen in 15,000 locations across New York City, including Yankee Stadium, and now, the Freedom Towers.
