THE BRONX - Nearly 250 Bronx residents attended a free re-entry clinic today for ex-convicts working to put their criminal records behind them.

Hosted by the borough president's office, the clinic offers two certificates that offenders can earn to get a second chance. A court or parole board will favor convicts who have volunteered, gone back to school or hold a steady job.

The certificate of relief is an option for those with any number of misdemeanors or one felony. The certificate of good conduct is for those who have more than one felony on their record.

The borough president's office says after a strong turnout today, it plans to go to the NYCHA Housing Development Board to help more offenders make a positive change in their lives.
