Borough president: Stop crime in local neighborhoods

THE BRONX - Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. is calling on Bronx residents to help curb crime in the borough after three people were killed and more than a dozen were wounded in shootings over the weekend.

The shootings claimed the lives of Lexxi Abreu, 16, Demetrius Jones, 19, and Luis Soto, 22. Diaz says he spoke to Borough Commander Carlos Gomez in the wake of the shootings.

The borough president is also asking for anyone with information that could help take guns off the streets to call the NYPD?s Illegal Handgun Hotline at 1-866-GUN-STOP.
