Botanical Gardens hit hard by Oct. snow

FORDHAM - The main attractions at the New York Botanical Gardens have been severely damaged by this weekend's rain and snow.

Workers say that hundreds of trees were destroyed and that it's the worst widespread damage they've seen in years. They say many downed trees and branches were well over 250 years old, making them difficult to replace.

Parts of the western section of the gardens is closed to visitors as a safety precaution while crews take care of the damaged trees. They say the cleanup could take weeks.
