THE BRONX - Two Melrose parents are blaming their child's school after the 5-year-old boy with autism walked out and roamed the streets by himself.

Laysha Nunn says her son Tyler's dad went to pick him up from dismissal at P.S. 29 on Wednesday. She says school employees could not find the boy, who has autism and doesn't speak.

Police say a good Samaritan, Beatrice Roman, discovered the kindergartner wandering nearby.

Roman was walking with her own kids at the time. She says she grabbed his hand when she feared he would step into traffic.

She brought him to a police precinct where he was reunited with his frightened parents.

The boy's parents say a paraprofessional is supposed to be assigned to Tyler at all times.

Nunn says she wants her son transferred to a school where she feels he will be safe.
