THE BRONX - Former ?Sopranos? actor Lillo Brancato Jr. was sentenced to 10 years behind bars Friday for an attempted burglary that led to the death of a New York City police officer.
Off-duty Officer Daniel Enchantegui was killed in 2005 when he tried to stop Brancato and his accomplice, Steven Armento, from breaking into a residence to steal narcotics. Armento fatally shot Enchantegui and was convicted for that crime. He is serving a life sentence in prison.
Brancato was acquitted of the higher charges of felony murder, two counts of burglary and a separate count of attempted burglary.
?I?m disappointed in the judicial system right now,? says the victim?s sister, Yolanda Rosa, in reaction to the sentencing.
Brancato has already spent three years in prison, but it is not known whether he will receive credit for time served. He will be eligible for parole in five years.
