RIVERDALE - With the weather clearing and life beginning to return to normal, many residents in Riverdale and other parts of The Bronx are left with the monumental task of clearing hundreds of fallen trees, some more than a century old.
"I'm a New Yorker but I've never seen this," said Karen Gordon. "This is amazing. We're lucky because when I watch television, I see how much worse it could be. But there were a lot of trees, a lot of damage."
Also making life difficult is the number of powerlines taken down by trees, knocking out power to some residents. Con Ed officials are cautioning residents to report downed lines immediately, saying they should all be treated as potentially deadly live wires.
Residents overall say they're just relieved that after all the winds and rain, no one was seriously hurt or killed in the city from the storm.
