Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. proposes ferry service program in the Bronx

THE BRONX - Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. is calling on Mayor Bill de Blasio for help to bring ferry service to the Bronx.

Diaz wrote a letter today to the mayor, asking him to support a three-year pilot program that would kick off the service in Soundview Park.

Diaz argues that it's time to connect the Bronx to the other four boroughs through waterways, giving people that are living in the Bronx another alternative form of transportation.

"Rediscovering and reinventing how these same assets can be used today is what I believe this ferry service proposal represents," Diaz said. "This proposal deserves to be tested, and it is my hope that... we can make this pilot program a reality."
