THE BRONX - Bronx business owners are taking time out of their own work days to aid those in need in Ecuador.

Four donation drop-off centers were set up in the Bronx to provide help to thousands of people in Ecuador still struggling after last month's earthquake.  The donations needed include food, personal hygiene products and emergency items like flashlights.

A week after the earthquake, Fabiola Guerrero and Diego Toasa, owners of ATAX on Washington Square, were approved by the Ecuadorian consulate to become a drop off center for donations. The two were born in Ecuador and have family living in the country.

"They need us," Guerrero said. "Even though we are not there, we can still help from here."

In the upcoming week, the company hopes to send off their second truck full of donations. They say the consulate is suggesting emergency items as a priority.
