THE BRONX - A school in Melrose is standing out globally after taking home a huge $100,000 energy award. 

The Bronx Design and Construction Academy won the Zayed Future Energy Prize with its idea for an energy and environment research center, which claimed the award for North, South and Central America. 

The money will go toward making the students' design of solar panels and an off-grid greenhouse a reality for the school and the community. 

The principal says that once all building materials are acquired, it will take up to eight months to complete the research center.
