Bronx father shot dead in front of apartment

THE BRONX - Investigators searched Tuesday for a gunman who fatally shot a Bronx father Sunday night.

Friends say Kenny Martinez was shot five times in the chest outside his apartment at 737 Southern Blvd., which he had just moved into days earlier.

Authorities say the gunman waited for Martinez in front of the building, but residents say surveillance cameras that could have caught the shooting have been broken for years.

Martinez's friends say he worked as a construction worker to support his 5-year-old daughter. Neighbors say they are pushing management to fix the cameras after this deadly incident.
