Bronx garage renamed for fallen sanitation worker

THE BRONX - Family members and colleagues from the Department of Sanitation came together today to honor a fallen worker by renaming a Bronx garage after him.

Nelson Diaz died of a heart attack while working on Aug. 11, 2008. Today his loved ones gathered at Garage 4 as the Emerald Society's pipes and drums sounded off during a special ceremony unveiling the renamed "Nelson Diaz Garage."

Diaz's widow, children and grandchildren say they want to make sure he is always remembered. They say a plaque in his memory will also be placed in the garage he considered a second home.
