THE BRONX - Gay advocacy groups throughout The Bronx have launched a campaign to spread awareness about hate crimes and provide helpful resources in the borough.

The local LGBT community has been fighting intolerance since a violent gang assault on Osbourne Place last year where three men were burned, beaten and sodomized because of their sexual orientation.

The Bronx Community Pride Center is also holding a series of town hall forums. Advocates say they hope to hit every community board in The Bronx in hopes of educating people.

The next meeting is scheduled for Community Board 4 on Oct. 17.
