Bronx girl sues NYPD for wrongful arrest

THE BRONX - A Bronx girl is suing the New York City Police Department saying she was arrested without probable cause.

Lawyers say Sofia Bautista, 11, was handcuffed and interrogated for three hours following a fight at school.

The incident happened last April when Bautista was 10 years old. The lawsuit alleges Bautista was taken to the 42nd precinct in Morrisania and handcuffed to a bench. Her mother repeatedly asked to see the girl but her requests were denied, according to the suit.

Police records show the girl was at the station for about an hour and a half. The NYPD denies claims Bautista was not allowed to see her mother.
