Bronx goes greener with more eco-friendly roofs

THE BRONX - Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. hosted a green roof tour today showcasing five buildings with green roofs.

The tour showcased the green roofs at the Bronx County building, the St. Simon Stock School, St. Joan of Arc Church, Urban Horizons and WSFSSH Grandparent Program. The Bronx is home to the first green roof on a city-owned building and has pioneered efforts to bring eco-friendly technology to commercial and nonprofit buildings, Diaz said.

Several of the green initiatives were funded by the Bronx Initiative for Energy & The Environment, a program of the Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation.
