Bronx grandmother mourned by family

THE BRONX - Family members mourned the death of a Bronx grandmother who was struck and killed Friday morning by an alleged drunken driver.

Police say 62-year-old Drane Mikac was collecting cans when she was hit and killed. Detective Kevin Spellman, 42, was charged with vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and DWI.

Mikac is survived by three adult children and several grandchildren. Her family says she was a lively and energetic woman.

A funeral service will be held in the Bronx for Mikac. Her family says they will send her body to Montenegro to be buried by her husband.
