Bronx Greenway voted down by community

THE BRONX - The Bronx Greenway project was voted down at a meeting of Community Board 11 Thursday night.

The multimillion-dollar project would have created a pedestrian walkway from 180th Street to Pelham Parkway. The area was slated for recreational use with benches and waterfront views.

Board members said they were concerned about security along the greenway. Some also said they were hesitant the greenway would be used for its intended purpose.

The New York City Department of Parks & Recreation has the final say on the project.
