THE BRONX - A Bronx group is taking a stand against gun violence in an attempt to better the lives of young people in the borough.

The group Bronx Rises Against Gun Violence, or B.R.A.G., has been working with the community since last December. Its goal is stop gun violence before it even starts.

B.R.A.G. recruits people who have had issues with gun violence and helps talk them out of retaliation. They say their efforts have so far been positive.

Recent statistics show that males between the ages of 16 and 25 need the most help.

B.R.A.G. has been working with people within that age group, in addition to community members, clergy and other businesses to help promote safer streets.

Officials say they plan to host one event per month with the public. They say the idea is not to push kids out, but to bring them in.
