THE BRONX - The Bronx Health and Wellness Summit is kicking off this weekend to educate families on how to treat and prevent conditions common in the Bronx.
Thousands of Bronx residents suffer from asthma, partially due to the high levels of smog in the area. A local doctor tells News 12 The Bronx that the rate of the illness in the Bronx community is reported to be at least three to five times higher than the average rate of asthma in other parts of New York.
In order to address this health concern as well as others, Borough President Ruben Diaz is hosting the summit slated to begin Saturday at Fordham University. It will feature sessions on 30 different health topics like healthy eating and expectant mother tips.
The summit is free of charge and open for all to attend once online registration is complete.
