Bronx high school renamed to honor 1st principal

CUNY Prep High School is getting a new name in honor of its founding principal. The school will now be known as the Doctor Derrick

THE BRONX - CUNY Prep High School is getting a new name in honor of its founding principal.

The school will now be known as the Doctor Derrick Griffith CUNY Preparatory School.

Griffith was killed in last month's Amtrak train derailment in Philadelphia.

He served as the dean of student affairs and enrollment at Medgar Evers College after his tenure as CUNY Prep's first principal.
