THE BRONX - A not-for-profit organization in Hunts Point is giving residents with well-kept homes a much-deserved congratulatory pat on the back.

Homes have been receiving a small plaque labeled "Beautiful Neighborhood Award," signifying its homeowner is committed to keeping their neighborhood looking its very best.

The organization, Bronx-based Hometown Security Labs, is giving the awards to encourage residents to do their part to maintain and beautify their neighborhoods. The six winners have not only earned bragging rights, but also won a $25 gift card to Home Depot.

The project is a pilot program for a much larger competition taking place this February, where residents throughout the South Bronx can nominate their neighbors who keep a beautiful home.
