THE BRONX - The Bronx County Historical Society has been collecting items that represent the past and present of Latinos in the Bronx in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Angel Hernandez has been working on the Bronx Latino History Project for two years. The historical society educator has collected artifacts and news sources from the past to chart the Hispanic experience in the borough.

According to the 2010 census, Hispanics make up just over 53 percent of the borough's population, up from 48 percent more than a decade ago.
