THE BRONX - Political and religious leaders from across the Bronx announced a new initiative today to take on violence in the borough.

The 'Peace in Our Streets' program will help foster direct communication between borough residents and leaders to address concerns about violence and illegal guns. Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. has joined with members of the Bronx Clergy Task Force and New Yorkers Against Gun Violence for the program.

As part of the initiative, organizers say they will hold a ?National Day of Outrage? against gun violence in November.
