Bronx man beaten in his apartment building dies from injuries

THE BRONX - Officials say a Bronx man who was beaten on Saturday in Kingsbridge, died from his injuries the next day.

Officials say 59-year-old Bimal Chanda was attacked by two men, who struck him in the head with a metal object as he was walking up the stairs to his third-floor apartment. They say some money and property was taken from him.

Chanda was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital and died from his injuries on Sunday.

Chanda's funeral will be held in Parkchester on Thursday.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-8477.
